About Our Organisation

Dedicated to fostering critical thinking and information literacy across all sectors of society

Our Story

Founded in 2019, sleek-prairie emerged from a recognition that traditional approaches to information literacy needed updating for the digital age. What began as informal workshops for journalists has grown into a comprehensive training organisation serving individuals, businesses, and educational institutions throughout the United Kingdom.

Our founders brought together expertise from journalism, academic research, and educational psychology to create programmes that balance theoretical understanding with practical application. We believe that everyone deserves the skills to navigate today's complex information environment.

Our Approach

We reject passive learning. Our methodology emphasises hands-on practice with real-world examples, allowing participants to build genuine competence through repeated application of verification techniques. Theory supports practice rather than replacing it.

Each programme is designed around clearly defined learning outcomes, ensuring participants can measure their progress and apply their new skills immediately upon completion. We continuously update our content to address emerging challenges and incorporate the latest research findings.

Our Values

Rigour

We hold ourselves to the same standards of evidence and accuracy that we teach. Our training materials undergo regular review and verification to ensure they reflect current best practices.

Accessibility

Information literacy should not be the preserve of specialists. We design our programmes to be approachable for participants regardless of their prior experience or technical background.

Practicality

Skills that cannot be applied have limited value. Every technique we teach has been tested in real-world contexts and proven effective across diverse situations.

Independence

Our commitment is to accuracy and critical thinking, not to any political perspective or commercial interest. We encourage scepticism towards all sources—including ourselves.

Join Our Mission

Whether as a participant, partner, or collaborator, there are many ways to support information literacy.
